Pillar I: Prioritizing Quality of Life for Cats Over Quantity of Cats

Our first and foremost principle is to improve the quality of life for our feline residents. Rather than focusing on rescuing large numbers of cats, we commit to providing a safe, enriching, and healthy home for a select few. This philosophy guides how our cafes are designed and operated:

• Space & Freedom: In approximately 250 square meters of space, we house only 30–40 cats, allowing for vertical architecture to promote climbing, resting, and roaming. This ensures ample personal space for each cat, reducing stress and overcrowding.
   

• Nutrition & Hydration: We provide mid to high-quality dry and wet food, supplemented with home-cooked meals three times a week to support a balanced diet. All portions are measured and monitored to avoid underweight or obesity issues. Clean drinking water is supplied via specialized cat water dispensers.
   

• Litterbox Management: Litter boxes are strategically placed throughout the cafe in separate zones to encourage natural usage habits. Litter is frequently changed to reduce odor and prevent diseases.
   

• Healthcare: All cats receive full vaccinations (including the core “Big Four” and rabies), with annual boosters. Prompt veterinary care is ensured for any signs of illness or injury. All male cats are neutered to prevent breeding; we do not breed, trade, or put cats up for adoption. Each cafe operates under strict isolation policies—resident cats do not come into contact with outside animals to prevent disease transmission.
   

• Hygiene & Grooming: Cats are bathed monthly and groomed on a regular schedule to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
   

• Mental & Emotional Well-being: Ensure ample space and verticality to promote roam, play, sleep for the cats. Ensure limited picking up and stressful hassling from customers—cats have spaces to retreat completely from human interaction. Only confident, sociable cats are selected. Cats that display aggression, extreme fear, or stress are not chosen, as they are not suited for the café environment.
   

Hence, rather than helping out lots of stray cats by way of adopting in and out, we opt to focus on fewer but healthier cats. The cats from the cafe are from a mix of different lives: some are adopted, some are purchased, some are gifted, some are rescued, etc. Méo Meo have a balanced ethical attitude towards operating a cat cafe. It is a mixture of commerce and qualitative care.

 

Pillar II: Providing Pleasant Customer Experiences at Affordable Prices

Our second pillar ensures that while our cats are well cared for, our human guests are equally valued. We strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment that delights all five senses:

• Visual: Guests are greeted with a clean, aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.
   

• Temperature: The cafe is consistently maintained at a comfortable 24–26°C.
   

• Smell: We control and neutralize odors, maintaining a fresh or lightly scented ambiance.
   

• Sound: We maintain minimum noise levels, though we acknowledge that weekends with children can be more challenging.
   

• Taste: Guests enjoy tasty snacks and drinks with unlimited refills during their visit.
   

• Staff Service: Friendly, helpful, and attentive service is a standard at all our locations.
   

• Inclusivity: We welcome guests of all ages—from children to seniors. We recognize that families with young children may be more energetic and sometimes disruptive. Balancing their enjoyment with the comfort of other guests is an ongoing effort that we continue to refine through thoughtful policies and staff training.
   

• Pricing: All pricing is set at a competitive, market-friendly level that supports both customer accessibility and business sustainability—so that we can continue investing in the well-being of our cats under Pillar I.
   

Pillar III: Sharing the joy of human-cat interaction

This third pillar is why Méo Meo Cat Cafe exists. Our mission is to create a space where the joy of human-cat interaction can be experienced and shared. Cats have lived alongside humans for over 10,000 years, and this ancient bond remains as strong as ever. Our slogan, “It’s like coming home,” embodies this spirit to serve multiple types of visitors, each with unique needs:

• For those who love cats but can’t own one: Enjoy all the best parts of cat companionship without the responsibilities. Read a book, work on your laptop, play a board game—while surrounded by our feline friends, all cared for by us.
   

• For prospective cat owners: Not sure if you’re ready for a pet? Come spend time with our cats, and experience what it’s really like to live with one. Many guests leave more informed and confident about pet ownership.
   

• For those who are allergic (or live with someone who is): Take an antihistamine and enjoy your time here, while your allergic family members stay comfortably at home. You get the interaction without the long-term impact.
   

• For everyone else: Whether you’re a long-time cat lover or someone just discovering how amazing cats are, Méo Meo is your place to relax, connect, and be inspired by the beautiful connection between humans and cats.
